Used Lodges for Sale: Pre-Owned Lodges at Epworth Fields

Used lodges for sale can be one of the best-value ways into holiday home ownership. A pre-owned lodge is usually already sited, with its decking and steps in place, and you can see exactly what you’re buying. At Epworth Fields, a small, gated, owners-only park in North Lincolnshire, our used lodges come with the same deal as our new ones: the price includes siting, connection, decking and furnishings, and the annual site fee of £3,000 plus VAT is frozen for 5 years.

Why buy a used lodge?

  • Value. A pre-owned lodge often costs less than the same size new.
  • What you see is what you get. The lodge is already on its pitch, so you can see the view, the light and the neighbours before you commit.
  • Ready sooner. There’s no waiting for delivery and siting.
  • Same park benefits. At Epworth Fields the 5-year site fee freeze applies to pre-owned lodges too, and you get the same owners-only park, fishing lake and 12-month season.

There are trade-offs. A used lodge has some wear, and you won’t choose the layout or finish. Some buyers prefer a new lodge for that reason. Neither is automatically better. It depends on your budget and how much you care about choosing every detail.

What to check on any second-hand lodge

Whether you buy from us or elsewhere, look at these before you buy a used lodge:

  1. Condition of the outside. Look at the walls, roof, gutters, windows and doors. Check for soft spots or rot on the decking.
  2. Inside. Check for damp, staining on ceilings, sticking doors and windows, and the condition of the kitchen and bathroom.
  3. Heating and hot water. Ask to see them working.
  4. Age and build standard. Ask how old the lodge is and which standard it was built to. Our lodge vs static caravan guide explains the standards.
  5. What’s included. Is the decking included? Furnishings? On some parks these are extras. At Epworth Fields they’re included in the price.
  6. The site fee and the agreement. Ask what the fee is, how it can change, and ask to read the agreement before you commit. A good park will expect you to.
  7. Whether the park lets lodges out. If you want quiet, ask how many lodges on the park are holiday lets. Ours are for owners’ own use only.

Used lodges vs used static caravans

Second-hand static caravans are usually cheaper than second-hand lodges, but they’re built differently. Lodges are typically wider and roomier, with residential-style windows, doors and insulation, which makes them more comfortable in winter. If you’re comparing the two, our cost of buying a holiday lodge guide shows what to budget for beyond the price.
