Things to do near Epworth – Days out

Epworth Old Rectory

Distance: 1.7 miles

This impressive Grade 1 listed house was the childhood home of John and Charles Wesley. Built-in 1709, Epworth Old Rectory will transport you back in time to the formative years of these pioneering evangelists. Join us for a tour of the house, where you can learn about the different characters who made up the Wesley family. Meet “The Mother of Methodism” and the Wesley children – all ten of them!

Wesley Memorial Methodist Church

Distance: 2.1 miles

The Wesley Memorial Methodist church built in 1889 as a memorial to John and Charles Wesley who were born in Epworth in 1703 and 1708. The Church is open from 9.00 -18.00 every day and visitors are welcome to use the attractive gardens for relaxation as well as explore the church.

The Trolleybus Museum

Distance: 5.7 miles

Founded on its present site, part of a wartime RAF station, the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft is situated on the Isle of Axholme. Messingham Zoo

Messingham Zoo’s primary aim is to offer something different to larger zoos and wildlife parks by focussing on close-up encounters with smaller, friendlier animals. Education forms a big part of what they want to deliver especially the teaching about animal care and welfare.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Arial Trail

Arialtrail’s High Ropes Adventure Course is the first of its kind in North Lincolnshire. Situated in a beautiful Woodland area, designed around eighteen sections interlinked by as many as five zip wires across the entire course this is one experience you don’t want to miss out on.

Boston Park farm

Distance: 13.3 miles

Boston Park Farm is a traditional working farm, with the farm park open to the public and allows children to get up close with a wide range of farm animals. You can pet and feed most of the animals and also join in with animal handling sessions.

Gainsborough Model Railway

Distance: 15 miles

Come and see authentic replicas of famous locomotives such as Flying Scotsman, Papyrus and Mallard, just three of the numerous locomotives used on this model to haul crack expresses. A must for any train enthusiast.
