“How do I sell my static caravan?” is one of the most common questions owners ask when they’re ready for a change. You might want something bigger, something warmer in winter, or a quieter park. Whatever the reason, there are three main routes. Each suits a different situation. This guide compares them honestly. It’s written by Epworth Fields, a small, owners-only lodge park in North Lincolnshire that takes motorhomes, static caravans and touring caravans in part-exchange.
Before you sell your static caravan: three things to check
- Your agreement with the park. Your caravan sits on a pitch under an agreement with the park owner. It usually sets out what happens if you sell, including whether the caravan can stay on the pitch for a new owner and whether the park takes a commission. Read it first.
- The caravan’s age and condition. Many parks have rules about how old a caravan can be to stay on site. Age and condition affect who’ll buy it and for how much.
- Your paperwork. Gather your purchase documents, any service records and the details of the make, model, year and size.
Option 1: Sell your static caravan privately
How it works: You find a buyer yourself, through a listing website or word of mouth, and agree a price.
Pros:
- You may get the highest price.
- You’re in control of the timing and the negotiation.
Cons:
- It can take time, and you keep paying site fees while you wait.
- Many parks have rules about private sales on site. Some must approve the buyer or take a commission, so check your agreement.
- If the buyer wants to move the caravan, they’ll have to arrange and pay for transport.
