If you’re browsing log cabin holiday homes for sale, you’re probably picturing something cosy in the countryside: a place with a deck, a view and a bit of peace. That’s exactly what a modern holiday lodge gives you. At Epworth Fields, a small, gated, family-run park in North Lincolnshire, lodges start from £49,995, and the price includes siting, connection, decking and furnishings. The annual site fee is £3,000 plus VAT, frozen for 5 years.
We’ll be straight with you: we sell modern holiday lodges, not log cabins. This page explains the difference so you can decide which suits you.
Log cabin holiday homes vs holiday lodges: what’s the difference?
People searching for log cabin holiday homes, wooden lodges for sale or lodge cabins for sale are often after the same thing: a cosy holiday home in the countryside. The words get mixed up, so here’s what actually changes from one to another:
- Where it goes. Some cabins are sold on their own, to put up on private land. A holiday lodge is sited on a pitch on a holiday park, with services already in place.
- What’s included. Some cabin prices are for the building only. With a holiday lodge on a park, the price can include much more. Ours includes siting, connection, decking and furnishings.
- How you use it. A holiday lodge on a park is a holiday home for breaks and weekends. It can’t be your main home.
- What’s around it. On a park you get a ready-made setting and neighbours who are owners too.
Log cabin holiday homes for sale: questions to ask
Whatever you’re looking at, ask the same questions:
- Where will it sit? A cabin on your own land usually needs planning permission. On a holiday park, the pitch and services are already in place.
- What does the price include? Delivery, a base, connection to services, decking and furniture can all be extra elsewhere. Here, siting, connection, decking and furnishings are included.
- How comfortable is it in winter? Ask about glazing and heating. You’ll want to use it on a cold weekend in February, not just in July.
- Is the park open all year? We have a 12-month season.
- What are the yearly costs? On a park, that’s the site fee. Ours is £3,000 plus VAT, frozen for 5 years. See site fees explained.
Why many log cabin buyers choose a modern lodge
Many people looking at wooden lodges for sale end up buying a holiday lodge because of:
- Less work. No base to build and no services to arrange. You arrive, open the door and relax.
- Comfort all year. Our lodges are for year-round holiday use on our 12-month season.
- A ready-made setting. Instead of finding a plot, you get a quiet, gated park with woodland walks, a picnic area and an owners-only fishing lake.
For the “cabin in the woods” feeling, the setting matters as much as the building. Epworth Fields sits in 12.5 acres of countryside on the Isle of Axholme, and it’s owners-only, with no letting or subletting. You won’t have different holidaymakers next door every weekend.
What our lodges are like
Our lodges include Love Holiday Homes models and a Victory Lakewood built by Victory. They come in different sizes, and each listing gives the details. Browse the current lodges for sale.
Hot tubs are allowed. We can add one for you, or you can fit your own. They’re not included as standard. Dogs are welcome too.
What does a lodge cost to own?
Lodges start from £49,995, all-in. After that, the main yearly cost is the site fee: £3,000 plus VAT, frozen for 5 years. There’s no council tax on a holiday lodge. For the full picture, read our guide to the cost of buying a holiday lodge.
We accept part-exchange on lodges, chalets, static caravans, touring caravans and motorhomes, so you can trade up from what you own now.

Our lodges are for year-round holiday use, and we have a 12-month season. Ask us about heating and glazing on any lodge you’re interested in.
